Max Allegri, Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare all spoke on behalf of AC Milan at a recent event, celebrating the club’s partnership with BMW. Based on the words of the trio, they are very much on the same page.
The arrivals of Allegri and Tare were announced by the club at the end of May, and so far, a lot of work has been done by the duo. The sporting director has secured Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric, with more on the way, while the manager has started pre-season with the team.
At an event yesterday, celebrating Milan’s partnership with BMW, the likes of Allegri, Furlani and Tare were all present to share some words about the upcoming season. Transcribed by MilanNews, it’s clear that the trio are on the same page.
Allegri’s words
On the first few days of work…
“We started a week ago and have been working well so far. But what counts is when the games start. We know the difficulties we’ll face, but above all, how important this season is. I’m very happy with the start.”
How did it feel to return to Milanello?
“When Tare called me on the phone for the first time, and when I met with the CEO Giorgio Furlani, the conditions for us to work together were already in place. I’m very happy about that. For me, returning to Milan is fantastic. I’m very excited.
“There’s a lot of work to do, because when the season starts on the pitch, what counts is the facts. Right now, there’s a great unity of purpose and a shared understanding of all the day-to-day aspects: it’s useful for providing a unified vision for everyone who works at Milan.

“We’re at one of the top clubs in the world; we must have great respect for that, and we can only earn that respect by working with great dedication and professionalism, but above all by delivering results.”
Furlani’s words
On the upcoming season and recent struggles…
“I haven’t hidden it, and there’s no point in hiding it: last season didn’t go the way we wanted. We’re starting this season with the goal we have every year: to be competitive and win the competitions we’re in.
“With Tare and Allegri, we’ve made some very important additions to our team, and we’re working collaboratively with them to ensure this is a successful season. The initial feelings are good, but until we start playing and winning games, it doesn’t matter.”
What have Tare and Allegri brought to the table?
“They are certainly professionals with extensive experience, recognised for being at the top of their professions: their history and their careers speak volumes about trophies, which, I repeat, are our ambition.”
Tare’s words
A month and a half after your arrival, how’s your work going?
“I’m very surprised by the club’s organisation: right from the start, I felt everyone was willing to put Max and me in the best possible conditions to ensure this project gets off to a good start. We still have a long way to go, we’re in the early stages.

“We need to be confident and skilled at bringing that experience, that mentality, that extra something needed to represent a glorious club like AC Milan.”
The story of Allegri and the blitz in Lugano…
“We decided together with the club to make this change. We needed a strong response right away, with an experienced coach with a winning mentality like Max. And there was no doubt: after a phone call, Giorgio and I went to Lugano to meet Allegri.
“It was a pleasant meeting because in those two or three hours, we realised that there was a synergy, but above all, the desire to continue this journey. We’re all three here and we’re trying to do the best we can.”
