This weekend, AC Milan conceded from the spot once again. However, Massimiliano Allegri joked with the scorer after the game.
In the past few years, Milan have been a bit dodgy from the penalty spot. The scoring issues have been widely discussed; in fact, Christian Pulisic’s woes against Juventus reignited that conversation. However, the issues are not only when scoring.
Allegri jokes
After the game against Pisa, there has been a considerable focus on Mike Maignan’s record against penalties, with him only saving one penalty in his last 16 faced. Of course, the advantage is with the taker.

Considering his previous record, though, there is certainly a question to be had about why he is now struggling when faced from the spot. Had Massimiliano Allegri been in goal for the Rossoneri, perhaps things would have been different.
After the game, he spoke to Juan Cuadrado – the scorer – and joked insistently that he would have saved the effort, as Football Italia relays from Sky Sport.
“If I were in goal, I would have saved your penalty. I knew you were going to shoot at the near post. I said: ‘If he [Maignan] dives at the near post, he’ll save it.”
