‘Allegri knows what he’s doing’ – Braida shares beliefs on Milan’s transformations

Ariedo Braida believes that AC Milan have made a good start in Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell, but they are missing a striker.

Braida was at Milan for 27 years from 1986 to 2013, serving firstly as the CEO and then as the sporting director from 2002 onwards. He was a key cog in what became a winning machine under Silvio Berlusconi, so he knows all about what a successful team looks like.

Milan may be quite far away from challenging for major European honours as they did in the 1990s. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s return seems to have stabilised things, and now the hope is that a title charge is possible, though the Coppa Italia last-16 comes first tonight.

Braida spoke to Sky at the presentation of the new partnership between Serie C and Cattolica Assicurazioni. The former Milan director – who is now vice-president of Ravenna – spoke about his former club, with MilanPress relaying his words.

Milan have started the season well…

“I’ve always been a Milan fan. I hope Milan wins. Allegri knows what he’s doing because he’s a very experienced coach. I think he’s brought discipline to Milanello, something that was previously lacking.

“Then, if he also had a centre-forward at his disposal, I think he could lead Milan to the goals that all Milan fans hope for.”
