Allegri makes standard clear to squad: “At AC Milan, the norm is winning matches”

Massimiliano Allegri has laid out the standard for the AC Milan squad, stating that the norm must be to win games.

Milan suffered a shock home defeat to Cremonese in the first game of the season, but have since bounced back with victories against Lecce and Bologna. This has helped calm any panic, though the aim has to be to create an even greater winning streak.

Tonight at the Bluenergy Stadium the Rossoneri face a team that are currently above them in the table, with Udinese on seven points from their three games. Allegri made it clear in his press conference that winning must become a habit.

“The boys need to know that, at AC Milan, the norm is winning matches. The boys have won two games, but that has to be the norm, not the exception,” he said.

“The exception has to be losing a game. That’s how to invest a negative trend or stop being so up and down. Ups and downs can happen, but they really shouldn’t. That’s the mentality we need to have. It’s a habit knowing we need to go far, and not just looking at one game.

“We’ve played three games and have 35 to go. We have 35 games with which to reach our aim. We need to take it step by step. We need a certain amount of points, and we’ll get them bit by bit.”
