AC Milan will start their season tomorrow with the Coppa Italia clash against Bari, and earlier today, a pre-game interview was published with head coach Max Allegri.
Due to Ferragosto, which is a public holiday in Italy, Milan decided not to host a press conference for the game against Bari. Instead, Allegri spoke to Mediaset – the channel which owns the Coppa Italia broadcasting rights in Italy – and previewed the clash.
In addition to highlighting Bari’s strengths, the head coach also praised the Milan fans for turning up in numbers tomorrow. It might not be an electric atmosphere, as alluded to by Curva Sud’s statement, but it’s still an important boost
On kicking off the season…
“There’s great enthusiasm, and we thank all the fans who will be at the stadium tomorrow. We should be good at playing a responsible, orderly, and technically demanding game.”
On Bari…
“We should have great respect, it’s an organised team with a good coach: he’s done a good job preparing them. Tomorrow’s victory is what counts, we must try to move forward to reach the finals in May.”

On Coppa Italia…
“It’s one of our three objectives and it’s a very important match for us on a mental level. It’s a step forward we must take. The season will be played over 38 games and we will need to maintain a great balance.”
On the mercato…
“I think that Milan, the club, has worked very well. Tare has worked very well. The new players have integrated very well and there is a good spirit.”
Allegri won’t be on the bench tomorrow, it should be noted, as he’s serving a two-game ban in the competition. It’s one he received after his final game at Juventus, with things getting very lively at the end of the Coppa Italia final win.
