Massimiliano Allegri spoke to the media ahead of AC Milan’s game against Como, sharing his thoughts on the standings while providing an update on Niclas Füllkrug.
Milan’s season has taken a little bit of a turn in the last week or so, clinching just two points from their games against Genoa and Fiorentina. On paper, these were games that the Rossoneri needed to win, or at the very least claim four points from.
Ahead of tonight’s game against Como, Massimiliano Allegri was interviewed by DAZN (via MilanNews) and shared his thoughts on the current situation. He also provided an update on Füllkrug, who was called up despite a toe problem.
You are playing after Napoli and Inter…
“The standings are what count now. We have earned 40 points, but we need to get almost as many to finish in the top four and stay close to the Scudetto contenders.
“Tonight’s a tough match. Como have very specific characteristics: excellent ball possession and few goals conceded. We will need a very precise technical performance.”

Can Leao exploit the space that Como leave opponents tonight?
“It’s not just Leao, you need runs from behind and from the second lines. You have to be very good at escaping that pressure when they attack you again.”
Fullkrug is already on the bench. Is he available?
“The boy made himself available right away. He said he has always played with this pain [from the stubbed toe] before, so I brought him along. It shows that he’s a player with character and cares deeply; he’s very important to us.”
As alluded to, securing all three points will be absolutely crucial for Milan tonight, not just to remain in the Scudetto race but also the top-four race. The standings are getting tighter and tighter at the top and the Rossoneri cannot afford any more slip-ups.
