Allegri responds to Pioli’s comment about Milan: “We definitely suffered”

Massimiliano Allegri has responded to Stefano Pioli’s comments about AC Milan, admitting that they have sometimes given too much to their opponents.

Milan’s defence has really been one of the main strengths this season, conceding just three goals so far, two of which came in the opener against Cremonese. Only Roma have conceded fewer goals in Serie A with two, which is also very impressive.

That said, while the numbers are good, the Rossoneri haven’t always been brilliant at keeping their opponents from creating chances. Juventus had a few decent opportunities last time out but lacked the quality, with Jonathan David slipping in the final moment for example.

During his press conference for the game, this is something that Fiorentina manager Pioli pointed out: “The numbers speak for themselves, but they have conceded more than the numbers suggest. We are prepared for the match, taking into account the situations that could put them in trouble”.

Allegri, meanwhile, responded to this during his presser earlier today: “We definitely suffered at home against Napoli when we were ten men short. In other games, there have been moments when we have gifted things to the opponents.

“For example, in Turin, on Kostic’s cross in the 92nd minute, Gabbia did a great job when we risked compromising the match. We must continue, knowing that every ball is crucial to achieving our goal”.

Allegri doesn’t seem too worried about Milan’s defensive defects, as such, even if he’s well aware that the Rossoneri need to improve in every aspect.
