Allegri reveals Pulisic nearly missed Milan-Napoli: “He wasn’t feeling well”

Max Allegri spoke to the media ahead of Milan-Napoli and revealed that Christian Pulisic nearly didn’t make the starting eleven for the game.

During his press conference yesterday, Allegri said that he had some doubts about the starting eleven, without going into the specifics of it all. Of course, this is something that the manager was asked about just a few minutes ago.

Indeed, speaking to DAZN (via MilanNews), the manager revealed that Pulisic wasn’t feeling too well yesterday and thus was in doubt for the game. However, he felt fine this morning and ended up being included in the starting eleven after all.

Did you clear up the doubts you had yesterday?

“I had doubts about Pulisic, who wasn’t feeling well. We tested him this morning and he did well. He’ll take the field.”

On the midfield…

“I have some key players in midfield, defence, and attack. I have good quality, but we’re just getting started. Today is an important test for us and to understand how we’ll face this Napoli team, which is a strong team and has the ability to interpret the game.”

On Gimenez…

“Forwards feel confident when they score goals. He has unlocked himself, I’m happy for him because he’s a player who works for the team.”

Almost a challenge for the Scudetto?

“A great match, a great evening of football and sport in this wonderful stadium. Tonight the stadium will be full, so we’ll have to put on a good performance. Let’s hope we do well and bring home a good result.”

Pulisic will no doubt play a key role for Milan, so the fact that he recovered from whatever issue he had is a massive boost. Then, Allegri could also give Rafael Leao some minutes off the bench, though that might depend on the scoreline.
