Massimiliano Allegri’s assistant Marco Landucci has revealed that Rafael Leao should be available against Napoli on Sunday.
Milan handed the task with relative ease, winning 3-0 to reach the last 16 of the Coppa Italia. The game was one way right from the start, but the early red card that Jamil Siebert got for a last-man challenge did nothing to help the away side.
Santiago Gimenez got the opener not long after that happened, then Christopher Nkunku opened his account for Milan with an acrobatic finish not long into the second half, before Christian Pulisic made sure of the victory.
Lazio await in the last 16 of the competition, with dreams of a trip to Rome next may remaining alive. Landucci spoke at a press conference (via MilanNews) after the game against Lecce to provide further thoughts on the victory and also answering a question on Leao’s condition.
There are some very positive numbers from the team…
“We started well again tonight. There’s a great team working hard, and there’s a great atmosphere at Milanello. It’s bearing fruit, and we’re happy. Now we’re preparing for this exciting match against the Italian champions.”
How big was Gimenez’s goal?
“It’s not a trivial goal, it’s a goal. He’s had good games before, all he needed was a goal.”

How is Leao?
“He couldn’t be there tonight… I think he’ll be with us in the group on Thursday, everything’s going well, so I think he’ll be available for Sunday.”
Milan have so many interesting young players…
“We have some interesting, very talented young players. Bartesaghi is a decent player, but we’ve found many talented, talented players. Athekame also came in well, he’s very good, and he’ll give us a big hand too.”
What did you think of Nkunku?
“He comes from Chelsea, he can do many things, he’s a strong player.”
