Ally McCoist tipped Mohamed Salah to leave Liverpool this summer before the veteran forward's goal against Wolves on Tuesday.

Salah, 33, is enduring a difficult campaign by his high standards. The Champions League winner has scored eight goals and provided eight assists for Liverpool this season, having managed 34 goals and 23 assists last term.

Salah scored his first Premier League goal in four months during Liverpool's game against Wolves on Tuesday, equalizing after Rodrigo Gomes scored the opener. Yet the Reds left Molineux empty-handed after Andre's 94th-minute winner gave the Premier League's bottom-placed team an unlikely victory against the defending champions.

Rangers legend McCoist covered Tuesday's game for TNT Sports and was asked about Salah's lack of goals this season before the game. He said: "From Liverpool's point of view, they'll have everything crossed that there is a change in form."

McCoist added: "He has not performed anything like the levels that he did last season. But make no mistake about it, he's one of the greatest players to have graced this league."

McCoist was then asked if Salah will be hurting right now. He replied: "He'll know it.

"We're sitting up here (in the commentary box) talking about it, but the first person to notice is Mo Salah, and he will know it.

"He absolutely knows that he's not performing to the best of his ability. I would take it a step further — it wouldn't surprise me if his form returns and Liverpool go on, because they've still got an awful lot to play for."

As McCoist suggested, there's still plenty left at stake for Liverpool this season. The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League table, three points behind both Manchester United in third and Aston Villa in fourth, and three points ahead of Chelsea in sixth.

All three teams have a game in hand on Liverpool. Chelsea will jump ahead of the Reds if Liam Rosenior's players beat Villa in Birmingham on Wednesday, while the Red Devils will take on Newcastle at St. James' Park at the same time.

A top-five finish is expected to be enough to secure Champions League soccer next season.

The Reds have a chance of winning silverware this term, having reached the Champions League last 16, where they'll face Galatasaray. They are also still in the FA Cup and will play Wolves on Friday — their second game at Molineux in the space of four days.

Salah's goal on Tuesday was a perfect reminder of what he offers Liverpool. But even if he continues scoring, McCoist doesn't think the forward will stay at Liverpool. While Salah's contract runs until June 2027, he's attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League.

"Will he be at Liverpool next season?" McCoist asked. "I don't know, but I don't think so."
