Liverpool's potential summer transfer activity has been under the spotlight recently.
Despite last summer's expenditure of around $600 million, Arne Slot's club is anticipated to enter the forthcoming winter with ambitions to strengthen several areas of the squad — especially after Tuesday's shock loss at Wolves. Further departures could be on the cards with the contract situations of Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson still unresolved.
It could prove to be another summer of transformation for the Reds, but reports of a remarkable reunion could see a familiar face making his way back to Anfield. Liverpool.com examines the latest developments emerging from Merseyside...

Now an integral player for Liverpool, there was a period when Ryan Gravenberch struggled to secure regular playing time during his unsuccessful spell at Bayern Munich. After only one season in Bavaria, the midfielder was brought to the club by Jurgen Klopp, ultimately becoming the German's final signing on deadline day in 2023.
Despite cementing his reputation as one of the world's most promising young midfielders at Ajax, his career stalled at Bayern, with former manager Julian Nagelsmann exploring the reasons behind Gravenberch's inability to make an impact at the German club.
Speaking to Kicker, Nagelsmann explained: "You have to pay extremely close attention to how a player handles being 15th or 16th in our squad, even though he's considered a top-six player at his club, someone who always plays. Let me give you an example from my time at Bayern Munich.

"Ryan Gravenberch is a top-class player, he already was at Bayern, but the situation was very complicated for him after his transfer from Ajax. Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich were ahead of him in the pecking order, and I had also promoted Aleksandar Pavlovic."
The Germany boss acknowledged that the responsibilities given to Gravenberch at Bayern didn't suit his natural playing style. He continued: "Ryan's task was to step up his game in the last 20 minutes, but that's not his style of play.
"Ryan is a player who needs consistent rhythm throughout the match. And then there are players you can bring on for 20 minutes, either to maintain a result or to desperately score a goal. They can give their all and leave everything on the pitch in those 20 minutes."
Transfer claim made
Despite offloading Jarell Quansah last summer, Liverpool is said to be considering a move to bring the England international back to Anfield.
Following his switch to Bayer Leverkusen, the 23-year-old has become a regular fixture in the side, racking up 32 appearances in all competitions and netting four times.
In the agreement that saw him move to Germany, Liverpool included a buy-back clause that reportedly allows the Reds to reacquire him for around $70 million in 2027.
Sky Germany reports suggest that the Reds could trigger a different €80 million ($93.1 million) buy-back clause this summer to bring him back to Anfield sooner rather than later.
While Liverpool already has one center-back, Jeremy Jacquet, set to arrive at Anfield this summer, the uncertainty surrounding Konate's future persists as his contract is due to expire at the season's end.
