Ambrosini believes Inter are ‘superior’ to Scudetto rivals but ‘can’t leave Milan out’

Massimo Ambrosini believes that AC Milan cannot be counted out of the Scudetto race, despite dropping points recently.

Milan have taken just two points from their last two games, against the teams in 17th and 18th in the table. Yet, the gap to Inter in first place is just three points, by virtue of the fact that they twice let a lead slip against Napoli in last night’s big game.

So, the Rossoneri remain within striking distance of their city rivals. Since last season, Inter have not won any of their 13 matches against Napoli, Milan and Juventus across all competitions (D6, L7), which has proved to be a real stumbling block for them in terms of proving their credentials.

Ambrosini: Inter are ‘superior’

Ambrosini spoke to DAZN after the game between Inter and Napoli at San Siro last night, offering his thoughts on how he thinks the Scudetto battle might end up playing out.

“There’s no doubt that Inter have a problem in these matches; they’ve had too many matches now to dismiss it as a coincidence. For me, Inter, in terms of squad and quality of play, are superior to the others, and we need to understand why they can’t show it in these matches,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I can’t leave Milan out [of the title race], because the Champions League starts again now, and that will weigh heavily. Inter and Napoli are the strongest, but the Champions League postpones the season; Milan can’t be left out.”
