There is a lot of talk about a new San Siro currently, but this will only happen if the Council agree on a deal to sell to AC Milan and Inter.
The situation with the stadium is beyond frustrating. Milan and Inter have an agreement for the stadium, but they are still waiting on decisions, and nothing has happened since then. It is a poor position to be in.
In fact, the fact that San Donato is being referenced as a possible option again shows the situation. Whether it is an empty threat to push a decision remains to be seen. Either way, the Rossoneri need some positive news quickly.
Marotta’s update
Speaking to Sky Sport yesterday, Beppe Marotta spoke about the situation and the vote that will take place on Monday with the City Council, as relayed by MilanPress.
“I believe and hope that our politicians also understand that the city of Milan needs a new stadium, or at least AC Milan and Inter Milan do. We would like to transform this need into an asset for the City of Milan.

“If that’s [San Siro] not the case, we’ll have to fill this gap ourselves. Considering that in the last ten years, only two new stadiums have been built in Italy compared to 53 worldwide, this type of problem arises.”
He previously said that it was an ’embarrassing’ situation to be a part of, and if, somehow, the clubs are unable to get a deal done, it will only confirm this.
