This week, AC Milan have begun to consider the prospect of Adriano Galliani returning, and there are clear reasons why.
A move for Galliani is a bit of a shock, indeed. It would be another shake in the system, where there have already been a few this summer. Igli Tare has changed the sporting movement of Milan, whilst Giorgio Furlani’s role is now more powerful than ever.
Of course, the results of this are yet to be seen. However, another could still make the Rossoneri more imposing generally. This relates to the law side of the game, where many have issues with the current regime.
Another shock
Reports in the past few days suggest that Galliani, if he is to return, would work for RedBird as a ‘super consultant’ and then participate in meetings on the club’s behalf. Today, Carlo Pellegatti has spoken about the chances of a return and why it could happen on his YouTube channel, via MilanNews.
“Today, we’re talking about the possibility of Galliani returning to Milan. An authoritative source told me something on July 23rd. On June 6th, he sent me a message: ‘Be careful, we’re trying.’ Trying with whom?
“He was talking about Adriano Galliani and his possible return to Milan. The owners understood that, in addition to a sporting director and a charismatic coach, they also lacked an authoritative managerial figure who could maintain relationships with the Lega and UEFA with a certain authority.
“On June 13th, they told me that Galliani would not be returning. Those were tense days for the sale of Monza, and therefore, Galliani wanted to be focused only on that. A few weeks later, I received a message about possible changes at the managerial level. I understand that they are talking about Galliani.
“I’m told that a close friend of Galliani’s, with excellent relations with the AC Milan owners, will try to convince Galliani. They told me not to say anything because it was a delicate moment.
“The current situation is this: the ownership sees Galliani as the right figure that AC Milan is lacking. Many have said that Galliani’s return would mean the departure of Paolo Scaroni, the current AC Milan president, but in reality, the ownership has never considered a change.
“The ownership is considering having Galliani on board, not like Ibrahimovic, who is a Senior Advisor, and entrusting him with the role of “Head of Football” for the Rossoneri. He will be the point of contact for transfers, player contacts, political contacts, and institutional relations. No one has ever considered letting Scaroni go.

“After the first rumours emerged, some tried to contact Galliani, who, however, explained that he is currently focused solely on the closing of the ownership change at Monza, which will take place in September.
“Therefore, in terms of timing for Galliani’s possible return, we will have to wait for the closing and the ownership change at Monza in September.
“That’s the story, now I’ll share my thoughts: for me, Galliani is the ideal figure for the revitalisation of AC Milan’s image and its institutions. He’s still one of the key figures in world football, still a highly respected figure. He would be a significant upgrade for AC Milan. I hope his arrival is seen by everyone at the club as a great opportunity.
“Will Galliani actually return to AC Milan? I think so. He gave a firm no in mid-June, but now he seems more open to it. The negotiations went well, and we’re on the way to Galliani’s return to AC Milan. And if that happens, I’ll be very happy.
