Andy Robertson found himself in yet more VAR controversy, with the Liverpool left-back making a mistake that could prove very costly for Scotland.
Robertson had looked to have got away with his challenge on Denmark’s Gustav Isaksen during the second half of the two sides’ winner-takes-all World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Tuesday, with the referee having decided against giving a foul as the Lazio winger made his way along the edge of the penalty area.
A lengthy VAR check was conducted though, with Robertson left desperately trying to plead with Szymon Marciniak as the hosts looked to defend their 1-0 lead.
After a long delay, Marciniak was eventually sent to the screen, with the official then pointing to the spot, despite there being some clear doubt about whether the foul had actually occurred inside the penalty area.
Rasmus Hojlund stepped up and drew Denmark level with a goal that could prove to be crucial for both sides, with a point being enough for the visitors to qualify for the World Cup, while Scotland would have to go through the play-offs.
