Andy Robertson has called on Liverpool to give Mohamed Salah the send off he deserves after announcing he will leave the club this summer.

Salah broke the news in a bombshell video on social media, having only signed a new two-year deal last summer. Liverpool has since issued a statement and it has emerged that he will be departing on a free transfer, with Saudi Arabia appearing a likely destination.

His teammates have shown their support with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Hugo Ekitike paying tribute to the departing Egyptian. Trent Alexander-Arnold also responded to the news with his own message to his former teammate.

Robertson, who could also leave Anfield at the end of the season when his own contract expires, reflected on his time playing alongside Salah, with the pair both arriving in 2017.

He wrote: "Mohammed, Thank you. 9 of the best years of our lives with amazing memories on and off the pitch.

"Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of.

"Your mentality is second to none and a lot of people could take note. You have pushed yourself every single day and always demanded more from yourself and others.

"A pleasure sharing the pitch with you for so long but even more so being able to call you a friend. You deserve a send off that reflects your status at LFC- the greatest. Second to none."

With Liverpool still in the Champions League and FA Cup, it remains to be seen how many more matches Salah will play in a red shirt. This season has largely been a disappointing one for the Egyptian, who has struggled to replicate his form from last season.

He lashed out at Arne Slot and the club earlier in the campaign after being dropped to the bench but returned to the fold following the Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool return to action in the FA Cup against Manchester City after the international break on April 4, before the trip to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Anfield supporters will get their first chance to pay tribute to Salah as he bids his long farewell to the club when the Reds host Fulham on April 11.
