Andy Robertson hasn't been tempted to message his former teammate Jordan Henderson ahead of Liverpool's journey to Brentford this weekend.
The Reds head to London on Saturday following their impressive end to a four-match losing run against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. Arne Slot's players had found themselves in a difficult spell before travelling to Germany, but demolished Frankfurt 5-1 to regain their form.
Five different players found the net in a confidence-boosting triumph that arrived after Slot made the bold decision to start Mohamed Salah among the substitutes. Liverpool must now maintain its positive momentum against Brentford in the Premier League, having suffered defeats in its previous three league encounters against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
A recognizable figure will feature on the opposing team, with former Reds skipper Henderson now featuring in midfield for Brentford.
Henderson accumulated 492 appearances for Liverpool before departing for Saudi Arabia two years ago and has arrived at Brentford following a stint at Ajax.
The 35-year-old has made a considerable impression in Keith Andrews' squad and will have provided his new colleagues with inside knowledge about his former club.
Robertson maintains a close friendship with the midfielder but confirmed he will reserve the courtesies until after the final whistle. "I think if I even tried, I don't think he would text me, so I'll save that for after the game," said Robertson.
"Hendo is an absolute legend of our club, what he has done for us within our changing room and the trophies he lifted.
"It will be nice to see him, but I know he will be up for the fight like he always is, and our midfield will have a hell of a battle against him, like all our players will, because Brentford are a tough team.
"Hopefully, if we get the win, I can have a nice catch-up with him after the game."
While it was Salah's omission from the starting XI and Hugo Ekitike's goal against his former side that dominated the headlines, there was another significant performance for Liverpool.
Florian Wirtz may not have found the net, but he contributed two assists in a captivating showing.
"I thought he was outstanding, excellent," Robertson said. "I thought he grew and grew into the game, especially the second half. Players around him helped him a lot – Curtis Jones was outstanding – and I thought the three midfielders helped us gain the momentum and keep the ball.
"Flo has been really good since he came here. People focus on numbers of goals and assists, but at times it's unfair, as he's created a hell of a lot of chances, and on Wednesday some of the chances he created ended up as an assist.
"Hopefully, he can take a lot from this performance."
