Ange Postecoglou set for imminent Arsenal meeting as next job appointment close

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is set to be appointed as the new head coach at Nottingham Forest and is expected to take charge on Saturday's clash with Arsenal.

Forest confirmed they had parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo late on Monday night after a divide between the Portuguese and owner Evangelos Marinakis. An official statement from Forest read: "Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that - following recent circumstances - Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as head ocach.

"The club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the club. As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."

Forest, who have started the Premier League season with just three points from a possible nine, will travel to the Emirates Stadium this weekend (12.30pm kick-off). The likes of Jose Mourinho, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner have all been mentioned as possible replacements, but Postecoglou is now set to come in.

The Australian was sacked by Tottenham this summer despite him winning the Europa League. He has been out of work since his departure from north London, but reports now suggest he will return to the Premier League.

The Athletic have reported that the appointment is set to be confirmed in the next 24 hours and that Postecoglou is set to be in the dugout for their trip to Arsenal.

It's also expected that the ex-Spurs boss will be joined by several of his former coaching staff from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou had been the subject of interest from Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and Brentford. However, Keith Andrews was ultimately appointed to replace Spurs-bound Thomas Frank.
