Anthony Gordon would be 'open' to a transfer to Bayern Munich as the Newcastle star continues to be linked with a summer departure. The 25 year old Gordon has consistently been associated with moves away from St James' Park this season.

Premier League competitors Liverpool and Arsenal have been touted as potential suitors, while the England winger also has attention from abroad, including from German champions Bayern Munich.

And it seems that a switch to the Bundesliga would appeal to Gordon should he depart Newcastle. According to Sky in Switzerland, the winger has informed those close to him that he would be receptive to joining Bayern.

He reportedly views the move as the next logical step in his development and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Michael Olise, the Frenchman having excelled since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace.

It is further detailed that Bayern plan to meet with Gordon's representatives soon to discuss a potential deal. Newcastle have also not ruled out his exit and have already started drawing up a list of possible replacements.

Gordon remains under contract with Newcastle until 2030. He has netted 17 goals in all competitions this season but missed the weekend's defeat to Bournemouth with a hip injury.

Speaking ahead of that game, boss Eddie Howe spoke out on speculation that both Gordon and teammate Sandro Tonali could leave the club.

He said: "What I will say is that what I see from the players is total commitment. I know the media will have different stories coming out at different times, I think that comes with the territory, as I've said many times, with us currently.

"It's not something I want or encourage. I want players totally fixed and here emotionally and physically because I think you can't do both.

"You're either in or you're out, there is no middle ground for me, so if that is the case with one or two players, that would be hugely disappointing, but I can't give you any firm narrative either way because I'm not involved in those conversations. No-one has said anything contrary to that to me personally."

Howe added: "I discuss things with players all the time. I don't discuss transfer speculation unless it gets to a point I have to. One thing I will not do, I will not play any player I don't think is 100% committed to the club. I'm not talking about Anthony there, I am talking across the board."
