Anthony Gordon could look to move on from Newcastle this summer, with Liverpool having been interested in him before and fresh links emerging as the season's end nears

Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon is set to explore his options this summer with an exit possible, and would reportedly "jump" at the chance to move to boyhood club Liverpool.
Gordon has enjoyed a good season under Eddie Howe, scoring 17 goals in all competitions, including netting 10 in the Champions League, but Newcastle looks set to miss out on European soccer and has been inconsistent.
As a result, Gordon could look to move on, even though he is under contract until 2030, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal having been linked with a swoop for him in recent weeks.

A move, of course, should one be made, would come a year after the protracted saga involving Alexander Isak, who eventually got his wish with a transfer worth $169 million (£125 million) going through on deadline day.
In 2024, when Newcastle needed to raise funds to improve its PSR position and avoid a points deduction, Liverpool agreed a deal worth $100 million (£75 million) for Gordon that would have seen Joe Gomez move the other way.

In the end, though, the Magpies sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton instead, and was therefore able to keep Gordon, who it desperately didn't want to lose.
When it was put to Gordon recently that teams like Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with him, he played down the speculation about a potential transfer.
"It's the same old, same old," Gordon insisted. "I think they just pick names out of a hat. They do (pick names out of the hat). I haven't heard anything; they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media)."
This week, links with Bayern Munich have been strongest. However, as he showed by scoring a decisive goal against Real Madrid in Europe, Luis Diaz has the left wing berth locked down under Vincent Kompany.

The Bundesliga side would be a guarantee of regular appearances in the latter stages of the Champions League — and Gordon is more than capable of being a player at that level — but there would be lots of competition.
This season, he has played through the center for Newcastle a lot with Isak now at Liverpool and Nick Woltemade having taken some time to settle in the Premier League.
Gordon's best position is out wide, though, and he would also tick the homegrown box for any English club that he moved to, which is something that Liverpool may need to consider this summer.
Liverpool.com says: Gordon is a really good player. It makes sense that he would be looking to leave Newcastle this summer, and the Magpies might need to make another sale to free up some room to spend and reshape their roster.
