Argentine outlet reveals Cristian Romero price tag amid Tottenham exit rumours

1 hour ago 21

A reputed Argentine outlet has provided the latest on Cristian Romero’s future amid suggestions that the Tottenham captain wants to leave the club in the summer.

The Tottenham captain has hit the headlines over the past few days for very controversial reasons.

It all started when Romero termed it ‘disgraceful’ that Tottenham had just 11 fit players against Man City, with the timing of the Spurs captain’s post causing many to believe that he was criticising the hierarchy for not making more signings in January.

Many Tottenham fans are fully behind Romero for speaking truth to power, but it has been suggested that the centre-back’s lashing out may have been a precursor to a big decision on his future.

It will be difficult for Cristian Romero to leave Tottenham

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul reported a couple of days ago that Romero had decided to leave Tottenham at the end of this season.

This is now backed up by TyC Sports, who assert confidently that the Spurs captain ‘will leave’ the North London club during the next transfer window.

They name Atletico Madrid as Romero’s possible destination after Diego Simone tried to take the centre-back to the Spanish capital last summer.

However, the report makes it clear that it ‘won’t be easy’ for the 27-year-old leave Tottenham as his contract runs until 2029.

The outlet claims that the Lilywhites value their captain at £60m, which appears to be a low figure. They also predict that Romero’s future will be one of the dominant transfer sagas of next summer’s transfer window.

Why Spurs fans should not be worried about losing Romero just yet

The Tottenham fans are directing their anger at the club’s board after the emergence of reports indicating that Romero could be off in the summer.

Most Spurs fans understand the centre-back’s frustration, but a lot can change between now and the summer.

There is no doubt that the Lilywhites would demand top dollar for the 27-year-old, and it remains to be seen if any club would be willing to meet that.
