Arne Slot issues injury update on Alisson and Jeremie Frimpong ahead of Man City

Arne Slot has confirmed he expects Alisson to be available for face Nottingham Forest in Liverpool's first match after the November international break.

The Reds face Manchester City on Sunday in the final match before the two-week pause in the club season, which will be the last international matches until March.

Liverpool returns with a home clash against Forest on November 22, before facing PSV Eindhoven and West Ham United. Slot's squad should be boosted by the return of Alisson for those games, with the goalkeeper missing all of Liverpool's fixtures throughout October and November due to a hamstring injury.

He has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks and is in line to play an important role over the busy Christmas period.

However, there was less positive news on Jeremie Frimpong, who won't be back in time for that match in two weeks.

The full-back has also been recovering from a hamstring injury, and has missed the last four games as a result.

Slot was asked ahead of the trip to City whether the Liverpool duo will be back after the break, and replied: "Alisson for sure and I expect Jeremie back after the international break as well because we play from November to March.

Jeremie Frimpong will not play for Liverpool before the November international break

Frimpong picked up a hamstring injury in last month's win over Eintracht Frankfurt

"But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest, but with Alisson we expect this."

Meanwhile, there was a positive update on Alexander Isak, who is expected to return for the City game.

"He will train with the team for the first time today after being three weeks out. I know I said three weeks ago his pre-season was ended, so now we have to see where he is," said the Liverpool head coach.

"If you are three week only with the rehab that doesn’t bring him back to the levels he was three weeks ago. You cannot compare rehab with games of football or training with the team. So, again I have to say give him some time."

Giovanni Leoni is Liverpool's only other injury concern, and he won't play again this season following the long-term knee problem he sustained against Southampton in September.
