Arne Slot believes Liverpool is the "nicest club to struggle" with as he reflected on his 100 matches as head coach with a candid assessment of his tenure so far.

Slot reached the landmark on Tuesday when his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League, meaning the Reds' current boss is level with Sir Kenny Dalglish for most victories across their opening 100 matches in charge with 62.

The Dutchman presided over an extraordinary campaign in his first season at Anfield, claiming the Premier League title at the first time of asking, winning by 10 points and with four matches to spare.

However, his second year has proved far more challenging, with nine losses leaving Liverpool sixth in the Premier League table ahead of this weekend's fixture against Tottenham at home.

Slot secured 36 wins in his opening 50 fixtures in charge but has triumphed in only 26 since, yet despite a difficult spell on Merseyside, he insists it remains a privilege to manage at Anfield.

"This might sound weird if I say only positive [things], because this season has not been only positive," Slot said [via the Liverpool Echo ].

"The support I have always felt - not talking about social media, I don't follow that much - but the support I have felt from the home crowd, away crowd, people inside the building, the ownership.

"What we have done here together to achieve the things we have achieved, is in my head and memory only very special.

"We are struggling now, that is also very obvious. This is probably the nicest club to struggle [with].
