Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Alexander Isak felt his groin during the first half of the Reds' win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.
Isak was replaced by Federico Chiesa at the interval with Liverpool taking no chances. It remains to be seen exactly how bad the injury is, with the player likely to be assessed in the coming days.
Slot's side travel to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday. Isak has been working his way up to full match fitness after missing most of the summer trying to force through a transfer exit from Newcastle United.
"Alex was well prepared to play but the margins are small," Slot said in his post-match press conference. "I am hoping this is not that bad. If he would be out for a few weeks that would throw him back.
“I don’t think there is a rule [for how long it will be until we see the best of Isak]. We were careful of him, Sweden too, we told them he is ready to play twice.
"It is a thin balance if you miss pre season. Some march through it; some get injured again.”
Jeremie Frimpong also went off injured during the Champions League clash. He only lasted part of the first half before picking up a hamstring issue.
Despite those negatives, there were plenty of positives for Liverpool. The Reds put an end to their four-game losing streak and Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz played well.
"I don't know if it's a statement but it is a win and something to build on," Virgil van Dijk said.
"I've been in the football business for a while, so not relief. Obviously we are disappointed with losing games, so it's something we have to deal with, stick together and keep working.

"Today we won and have to be ready for Brentford on Saturday. We don't get dragged into the negative things that are going around.
"The only way you can play your game is to focus on the task ahead. Keep going, don't get dragged into all that stuff."
"It was a great feeling [to come back to Frankfurt]," Ekitike added. "It was something special to come back home.
"To win and score my first Champions League goal here was important. I just keep it calm and cool. I knew he would come and open his legs so I put it between the legs and that worked."
