Liverpool has taken drastic action with Arne Slot's coaching staff, with set-piece coach Aaron Briggs leaving Anfield.
The club confirmed his exit on Tuesday with a short statement. Briggs departs amid increased scrutiny of the Reds' record from set-pieces this season, having conceded 12 goals from set-plays - the worst record in Europe's top five leagues.
Liverpool's problems at set-pieces have seen both Slot and Virgil van Dijk air their grievances recently, and now Briggs' responsibilities are set to be shared among the remaining members of the coaching staff at Anfield, with their first test coming against Leeds on New Year's Day.

That was just one of a number of changes made to Slot's backroom staff during the summer, which also included Giovanni van Bronckhorst taking up the role of Slot’s assistant, replacing John Heitinga, who had moved to Ajax.

Meanwhile, Liverpool appointed Xavi Valero as the club’s new lead goalkeeper coach - the Spaniard previously worked at the club during Rafael Benitez’s tenure at Anfield - as well as Brazilian coach Luiz Fernando Iubel, who became individual lead coach.
Valero replaced previous goalkeeping coaches Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel. The latter had worked with Alisson at both club and international level for several years, and will continue as part of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil staff.
In fact, Slot’s backroom team has changed drastically in just over a year since Jurgen Klopp’s exit. As well as Briggs' appointment, Sipke Hulshoff followed Slot to Anfield from Feyenoord as his assistant, with Ruben Peeters joining as lead physical performance coach. Lead strength and conditioning coach, Chris Black, also joined the Reds in 2024.

Other members from the Klopp era remain, such as club doctor Jonathan Power, head of physiotherapy, Lee Nobes, Head of the First Team Physical Performance department, Dr Conall Murtagh, and rehabilitation fitness coach, Dr David Rydings.
In total, 22 members of staff are listed on club’s website as members of Slot’s backroom team, they include: Colin Stewart (goalkeeping development and pathway lead), Chris Morgan (head of performance physical therapy), Amit Pannu (first-team doctor), Robin Sadler (first-team physiotherapist), Paul Small (masseur), Michaelle Hudson (masseur), Lee Radcliffe (kit operations manager), Brendan McIlduff (kit co-ordinator), Yinka Ademuyiwa (kit assistant), Lynsey Ahmed (health care assistant), Clare Farrell (lead performance nutritionist) and Joe Lewis (physiotherapist - rehab).
