Liverpool's decision to let Luis Diaz join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window has been met with criticism. The Reds sanctioned a deal that saw the Colombian international move to Germany for a fee potentially rising to $86 million (£65.5million).
Since his switch to Bayern, Diaz has hit the ground running, bagging 11 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions. In response to Diaz's exit, Liverpool strengthened their forward line by signing Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak.
Ekitike started the season strongly, netting six times in all competitions, but he hasn't managed to score in the Premier League since 20 September.
Isak, who arrived from Newcastle in a deal worth £125million, has only found the back of the net once for Liverpool, scoring against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, reports the Mirror.
Ex-Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has shared his thoughts on why Liverpool should have retained Diaz.
The former Chelsea ace also questioned the effectiveness of bringing both Ekitike and Isak to Anfield, as Liverpool manager Arne Slot is frequently quizzed about the possibility of starting both players.
Hasselbaink's remarks follow Liverpool's recent stumble in their quest to defend the Premier League title, suffering a 3-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
"They let [Luis] Diaz go, which in my eyes, should have never happened, they should have gone and got a winger then," Hasselbaink said during his Sky Sports News appearance.
The ex-Chelsea forward continued: "You have got [Hugo] Ekitike in the building, he is doing well, he hit the ground running he was scoring.

"[Alexander] Isak comes in and Ekitike goes on the bench. What does that do to Ekitike and what else does that do for the squad?"
"Whatever you say is not good and that is the problem you're going to get. You have that problem, then on top of that, you have to find a place for Wirtz. Don't forget Wirtz in there, you have to find a place."
