Former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez has previously been linked with Arsenal, who continue to grow stronger under Mikel Arteta
Arsenal were reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez last year, and could look to sign a new attacker, midfielder and right-back this summer. Having splashed out approximately £250million in the summer, Arsenal are not anticipated to be active in the final few weeks of the January transfer window.
As Arsenal's injury woes begin to subside, Mikel Arteta is nearing a full-strength squad, which could mean less game time for peripheral players like Ethan Nwaneri. Despite interest from West Ham United and Bournemouth for a loan deal, the Gunners have held firm, but he has now joined Marseille.
Elsewhere, Oleksandr Zinchenko, currently on loan away from the Emirates Stadium, could see his situation change following an open admission from Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche and transfer interest from another club.
In terms of arrivals, it appears that all eyes are on the summer transfer window, with Andrea Berta already formulating plans. One player previously linked was Alvarez, a player the CIES Football Observatory values at £111million.

And speaking on Sky Sports' Transfer Show, The Athletic's David Ornstein has reported the latest on Arsenal's transfer activity, including claims that a move for Alvarez was discussed last summer.
He also claims that they could look towards three new signings this summer - a new attacker, midfielder and right-back.
Arteta has previously said the club are prepared to ease their injury problems by looking at signing new players in January.
Speaking last month, the Spaniard said: "The window is there and I mean we are Arsenal and we have to be looking at it -- 'Okay, what do we need?' And we have to be actively looking and then, whether we can do it or not, that's a different story.
"But our job is to always be very prepared because something can happen, so hopefully it'll be very positive.
"When you look across the other clubs, they have 24 or 25 squad players. Although we have had more injuries than expected, some of them not avoidable.
"We want to be better and we know how important the part of having the right availability with players is going to be this season."
However, little business has been done yet and any major moves this month seem unlikely at present. Arsenal return to action on Sunday, where they host Manchester United in north London (4:30pm).
