Arsenal seem to be approaching the finishing line when it comes to the Viktor Gyokeres transfer saga - with an agreement now in place with Sporting CP.
It's been a tough negotiating period between the two clubs but Andrea Berta looks to be on the brink of finally giving Mikel Arteta the striker that he's craved for a number of transfer windows now.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of further incoming and outgoing transfers so - with that in mind -football.london has taken a look at the latest transfer news and rumours.
Gyokeres transfer 'headache solved'
CNN Portugal's Bruno Andrade claims the deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres just needs to be signed with Arsenal and Sporting now on the verge of an agreement, solving a headache for all parties involved.
"If the contract is for five years, everything indicates that these objectives will be met over those five years," he told maisfutebol. "Usually, when you make an offer with objectives included, they are easy to meet - in the short term - in the first or second year of the contract, through number of appearances, goals...
"When you extend that to cover five years, they still need to be attainable, so it's probably things like number of goals, number of games, Champions League qualification, which Arsenal achieves quite frequently."
According to Andrade, the ongoing transfer sage is reaching an end, which is the most important thing for all involved. He said: "What's important is that the situation has finally been resolved. Sporting has finally solved a headache.
"Varandas got what he wanted. It took time, but he got it.
"The deal will go through on his terms. The official documents were submitted yesterday and are satisfactory to Sporting, so now it just needs to be signed."
football.london says: "The news that the saga is coming to an end will be music to the ears of all Arsenal supporters. Mikel Arteta's side can finally begin to integrate a number nine into their squad as they look to challenge the Premier League title. Wrapping this saga up can allow the Gunners to focus on outgoings."
Arteta handed stark trophy warning
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been warned he must win silverware this season - or risk losing his job as Gunners' manager. talkSPORT presenter and former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has warned Arteta his backing in this summer's transfer market means he has to deliver on the pitch.
"Arteta has to win something this year," Jordan told talkSPORT on July 22. "I think there's only so many times that you can keep on evolving to being a team that's progressing, to eventually a team with potential and, somewhere along the line, the potential has to be realised.
"I thought Arsenal would win the league last year and the opportunity to win the league was there for them. Man City declined and, okay, Liverpool stepped up, but Arsenal didn’t.
"With that in mind, and given the fact Arteta has been backed, and he's been backed extensively and repeatedly. If he gets the players he's asking for this season, which he's getting in Zubimendi and the centre-forward, I think if he doesn't win something rather significant - whether that's a cup or the league - I think he'll find himself in a situation where Arsenal will change."
football.london says: "It's not a secret that Arsenal want to win the Premier League title once again and the board have backed Arteta this summer. To suggest he'll be out of a job if he fails to pick up any silverware seems a bit too premature. The Champions League run last season shows there's plenty to be excited about."
