Milan Primavera and Atalanta played out a goalless draw in the early kick-off on Sunday, and it was far from a classic.
Giovanni Renna’s side returned to action in the league after the international break, and after what has been quite a mixed start to the season following a summer of big changes.
In their last game, the Primavera clinched a point in their game against Monza thanks to two screamers, having trailed by two goals. First Simon La Mantia and then Filippo Plazzotta scored at the start and end of the second half respectively to earn a draw.
The first half was not particularly entertaining, with Castiello having a shot blocked and Longoni making an excellent save to deny Baldo. There were to be more chances in the second 45 minutes, but no goals.
In the 63rd minute, a splendid free kick from Pandolfi went into the side-netting. He also created two more chances, in the 72nd and 74th minutes, both for Lontani: in the first, his left-footed touch went just over, and in the second, his header in the box went just wide of the crossbar.
Mouisse and Michieletto had some big chances to snatch the three points for the home side in the final few minutes, but when the three whistles went at the end of the game, they were forced to shake hands on a draw. For Milan it is five games unbeaten, and they climb to 8th.
