After the game between AC Milan and Pisa, which ended in a 2-2 draw, the Rossoneri’s final goalscorer Zachary Athekame shared his thoughts with the media.
It ended up being a frustrating evening for Milan at San Siro. After what was a dominating display in the first half, though only with a goal to show for it, Pisa worked their way back into the game and scored twice in the second half.
Thanks to a late strike, courtesy of Athekame, Milan at least managed to come away with a point. Speaking to Sky and DAZN afterwards, as transcribed by MilanNews, the Swiss international shared his thoughts on the performance and his goal.
What did you think when you scored?
“Nothing, I just shot and scored.”
First goal at San Siro… What emotions did you experience?
“I was happy, but not that overly happy because we didn’t win.”
What are your thoughts on the game?
“I’m disappointed with the result. We wanted to win, and it was very important to us. It was important to win at home, and we didn’t play very well. Now we have to work.”
As we highlighted in our player ratings, while the goal was a lovely strike, Athekame could and should have done a lot better on Pisa’s second goal. He completely left his man and was the reason he remained onside, so there is a lot to work on still.
