In addition to Santiago Gimenez, Zachary Athekame will also miss out on the big derby between AC Milan and Inter, as confirmed by Massimiliano Allegri earlier today.
Injuries have been a hot topic for Milan this season, having been forced to sideline some of their stars for multiple weeks. Now, however, the situation is looking a lot better as Christian Pulisic has regained full fitness, while Adrien Rabiot returned to training this week.
Only a couple of players are on the injury list as things stand, though one of them was added to it in recent days. During his press conference, Allegri stated that Athekame picked up a calf injury while on international duty with Switzerland’s U21 side.
Not that he was expected to play either way, but the 20-year-old could have been a good option in the final minutes of the game. Allegri can consider himself lucky that Alexis Saelemaekers is the starter in the same position, seeing as the Belgian seemingly never gets tired.
No timeframe was mentioned for Athekame’s injury but the situation should be clearer once further tests have been made. Santiago Gimenez is the other player on the injury list due to an ankle problem, but his goal now seems to be the Lazio game.
