Manchester United are open to letting Rasmus Hojlund leave, but AC Milan are not the only team in the running.

It is well known that Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward to alternative/compete with Santiago Gimenez, and in recent days Hojlund’s name has been linked with increasing intensity, despite question marks over whether he wants to move.

Hojlund to Milan: The latest

According to The Athletic, Milan are indeed keen on signing the Dane and Manchester United are ‘willing to sanction a loan exit’. They would rather sell him in a permanent deal for £30m – which is around €34.6m – but are open to a loan agreement.

The loan deal ‘can include an option or obligation’ to sign Hojlund at the end of the season. However, the would prefer full coverage of Hojlund’s wages (around £110,000-per-week, or €5m net per year) as well as ‘a multi-million pound loan fee’.

The hope for the Red Devils is then that Hojlund ‘rediscovers some of his best form while away from the club and restores some of his value’. A return to Serie A, in this sense, could well be a positive switch for him.

In their deal sheet update, The Athletic do mention that clubs such as Milan, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Newcastle United ‘are taking a look at Hojlund’, who at present insists he wants to stay and fight for his place.
