Bartesaghi discusses Futuro stint, Scudetto, Allegri and career dreams: “A symbol of Milan”

Davide Bartesaghi is quickly capturing the attention of AC Milan fans, and it seems he hopes to continue doing so for a while.

A lot has been said about the left-back situation this season and as much as you could fault Pervis Estupinan, you must also praise Bartesaghi. Without him, there would be no conversation; it would be Estupinan or nothing.

However, the young Italian has made some statement appearances, and could make the position his for the long-term future. Like Matteo Gabbia, he is a boyhood Rossonero too, which only helps his case with the fans.

Bartesaghi on the past, present and future

Of course, it is still early in his career, especially for Milan, but there is a very good point to make about his future. Right now, it is difficult to see Estupinan returning as a starter. So, the future could be his, and he is making the most of the opportunity.

This afternoon, he spoke to Radio Sportiva, and his comments have been relayed by MilanNews.

On Milan Futuro…

“Last year at Milan Futuro was very helpful to me. It’s a project based on the development of young players. I’m just starting out, I still have a long way to go. For a young player, playing in a difficult league like Serie C is a crucial step; it’s a motivation.

“The greatest growth comes from facing difficulties; if you have an easy path, you don’t understand certain dynamics. Last year was disappointing in terms of results, but for me it was very important.”

On his current situation…

“I’m a humble and quiet boy who only thinks about working, about football and about giving my all for this shirt. I went through the entire youth sector at Milan and I think I have a lot to give to this team.”

On the Scudetto…

“It’s still too early to think about the Scudetto, but it’s one of our goals, as is getting back into the Champions League. We’re only at the beginning; there are still a lot of games. We’ll talk about it again in May.”

On Allegri…

“He’s giving me a big hand, as are his staff and my teammates. I feel their trust every day and this is fundamental to continuing to improve.”

On his idol…

“I had a poster of Maldini and Marcelo. I take inspiration from Theo, but if I have to look at a player who plays in Serie A, I’d say Spinazzola because I’m a bit similar to him.”

On his role…

“I’ve tried other roles, including third-back. I’m versatile, and I think that’s important in today’s football. I feel comfortable in all the positions I play; I don’t have a favourite role.”

On the Italy U21 team…

“I’m happy. I’m grateful for coach Baldini’s confidence.”

On his dream…

“A future in the national team and continuing to play for AC Milan. I hope to become a symbol of AC Milan, it’s early, but I really hope so because it’s a magnificent club and I’ve been here since I was a child.”
