After the important win against Lazio, Davide Bartesaghi spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on what has been an impressive journey so far this season.
In addition to Milan’s points tally, another thing that has surprised many is definitely the development of Bartesaghi. The 19-year-old has made the left wing-back spot his after initially battling with Pervis Estupinan for the starting spot.
Yesterday, he put in yet another mature performance, with several good involvements in both phases of the game. Afterwards, he was interviewed by both DAZN and MilanTV (via MilanNews) about the performance and his own growth in recent weeks.
On the game…
“It was a tough match. We always work hard, but they did a good job of putting pressure on us right away. Then, at a slower pace, we managed the game well and created the right chance.
The ending was special…
“A special night. There’s always been that energy, but we handled it well and did a good job of staying in the game.”
On his growth…
“So far, everything’s going well, but there’s always room for improvement. One of my strengths is being calm and collected. I have to thank my coach and teammates. Confidence is the most important thing in this sport.”

The experience with Milan Futuro…
“It was important for me. In Serie C, there are difficult games and heated stadiums, so this helped me. Unfortunately, the results on the pitch weren’t there, which I’m disappointed about, but for my development, yes, playing for Milan Futuro helped me a lot.”
On Maignan’s save…
“We have a fantastic goalkeeper. Mike is a certainty in goal.”
How’s your right thigh? Could you have imagined taking a free kick near Modric six months ago?
“My thigh was a bit sore, I gritted my teeth. As for Modric’s free kick, I didn’t want to take it at first, but then I felt the coach pushing me, so I went for the ball and tried to take it.”
Is the national team the next step?
“The national team is the next step and a dream I want to realise. But I’ll make it happen by training and always giving my all for this jersey.”
Your first memory as a Milan fan?
“The call saying I should play for this club. I was little and my father told me that Milan had called me. I showed up at Milan and saw Maldini and Carbone, a wonderful feeling, even more so for my father, who is more of a Milan fan than I am.”
How old were you?
“About 6 or 7 years old.”
It remains to be seen how the starting XI will look on Thursday, when Milan and Lazio will square off again, though in the Coppa Italia. Estupinan is currently fully fit and could thus give Bartesaghi some rest, considering that the schedule is rather packed in the next few weeks.
