Bartesaghi show and promoted team problem: All the key stats from AC Milan 2-2 Sassuolo

AC Milan once again dropped points at home against a newly-promoted side on Sunday, drawing 2-2 against Sassuolo.

The away side went in front early on through Ismael Kone, but then a brace from Davide Bartesaghi turned the game on its head, with the wing-back netting either side of the interval.

However, Armand Lauriente came off the bench to level inside the final 20 minutes and the points were shared. It is yet another frustrating result for Milan, after previously dropping points to Cremonese, Parma and Pisa.

Not enough

Looking at the stat line, red dominates things. Milan had more possession, more Expected Goals, double the amount of big chances, more total shots, shots on target and corners.

While that tells us the balance of play was in favour of the Rossoneri, there were some worrying moments late on, such as Lauriente nearly scoring a winner after hitting the post.

The Barte show

Davide Bartesaghi is the youngest Milan player to score a brace in Serie A since September 2012 (Stephan El Shaarawy, just 15 days younger).

At 19 years and 350 days, Bartesaghi is also the youngest Italian defender to score for Milan in Serie A since Paolo Maldini (19 years and 247 days) on February 28, 1988. He is the youngest defender to score in Serie A this season, too.

His numbers read as follows: 2 goals, 30 passes, 87% pass accuracy, 2 key passes, 1/1 successful dribble, 2/2 tackles won, 8/8 duels won. A memorable day for the teenager.

Hoodoo continues

Milan have only won one of their last five Serie A matches against Sassuolo (D3 L1), so they have gone back to being a bogey team as they were when they were first promoted over a decade ago.

Moreover, the Diavolo have now played the three newly-promoted teams at home this season and have taken just two points. They have conceded twice in each of the games, too.
