Bayern Munich has no intention of selling Michael Olise this summer, amid persistent reports this season linking him with a return to the Premier League.

Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best wide forwards in European soccer.

Considering he plays in the same position as Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah – who it has now been confirmed will leave Liverpool at the end of the season – links between Liverpool and Olise have emerged in recent weeks.

However, Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl gave short shrift to a question about Olise potentially departing in an interview with Sport Bild. “We’re not even wasting a thought on that,” Eberl told Sport Bild.

“He is a Bayern Munich player and has every opportunity here that top players could wish for. We want to shape the future with him.”

Meanwhile, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said the same thing. “No matter which club tries to turn his head: anyone playing for Bayern Munich knows what they have here,” Dreesen said.

“We compete for titles, and that is the most important thing for exceptional players like him. For this type of player, it’s about winning trophies.

"There are not many clubs where you can do that, and we are certainly one of them. That’s why I am completely convinced that Michael knows what he has with us.”

Olise is contracted to Bayern until 2029, but Eberl suggested that talks could soon take place over an improved and extended deal for the Frenchman.

“He knows what he has with us, and it’s the same the other way around. It fits,” Eberl said regarding Olise’s contract situation.

“In general, you are always in contact with your players. But what we discuss stays internal.”

In a statement issued on social media confirming his exit on Tuesday, Salah said: “Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come.

"This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

"I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, this people, would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit. I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club."

He added: "Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life, I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family.

“Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”
