‘Become an opportunity’ – Moretto confirms Milan are considering a move for Ake

With a desire to sign a central defender, AC Milan are once again looking at a Manchester City option, and this time it is Nathan Ake.

There have been several options suggested for Milan in the defensive area since the summer. Even after Koni De Winter’s arrival, many names have been thrown around, and yet no one has arrived – barring David Odogu, who has aligned himself with the Futuro.

Nevertheless, with the need to sign another defensive option still there, the Rossoneri are back on the hunt. Whilst the same names have been mentioned again, there are a few new ones, and Nathan Ake falls somewhere in between.

Ake an option?

Even now, with the mercato underway, it is not entirely certain whether a move for the Dutch defender will be made. Things change quickly in January, and they could move into a favourable position for the club.

Matteo Moretto, a mercato expert, stated the following on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, via MilanNews.

“In the last few hours, there have been contacts and surveys to understand the feasibility of the Nathan Aké operation in terms of numbers.

“He’s a popular defender, though it’s complicated for several reasons: first of all, because he earns a lot, and then Manchester City have several injured players at the moment, so it’s up to them to decide whether they’ll actually let him go.

“Milan, however, are trying to figure out if he can become a transfer opportunity in these final days of this winter transfer window.”
