Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko has broken his silence after his Premier League move broke down as the Gunners steered their attention to Viktor Gyokeres. Mikel Arteta's were in pursuit of the Slovenian during the transfer window but saw talks break down, which led to their pursuit intensifying for the Sweden international.
The RB Leipzig striker appeared to be a first-choice attacking target for the North London club this summer but failed to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga club. It was suggested that Die Roten Bullen's financial package demands became too expensive for them, forcing their attention to turn towards Gyokeres.
Leipzig were said to not relent on their €80million (£68.96m) asking price with the Gunners less than £10m off the asking price with the structure of the dealing proving to be problematic for Arsenal.
Conflicting speculation suggested that the personal terms had been agreed but equally, talks with the talismanic forward were not entirely straightforward either.
But as a result, the recruitment chiefs at the Emirates Stadium pivoted to the Sporting CP attacker.
And this week, Sesko has broken his social media silence to post to his Instagram story as preparations are stepped up for the forthcoming season.
He shared snaps posing in the new RB Leipzig kit, with former Arsenal shirt manufacturers Puma leading the design, adding the caption: "Getting some [camera emoji] (pictures) for (the) new season."
The photos of Sesko in an RB Leipzig shirt will no doubt reassure fans of the Bundesliga club that the forward is almost certainly planning to kick of the new season with his current side rather than seek a move away before the transfer window closes in a fresh hint over where he sees his future.
The saga surrounding the powerful forward hasn't entirely dragged on like Gyokeres'.
It had been suggested by certain factions that the Sweden international was left angered and frustrated by the Sporting hierarchy failing to maintain their pact.
Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic denied putting pressure on Leipzig to lower the asking price.
"This is far from truth!" he told GIVEMESPORT. "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100% convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it."
In a separate interview, he added: "Let me tell you: Sesko is not competing with anyone.
"It’s him vs him every day.
"We have a clear plan for the future and media speculation doesn’t affect us.
"Sesko is not just a striker, he is a special striker."
