Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva helped lead the Blues to a 2-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday night
Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has insisted he will keep fighting until the end to repay what the club has afforded him during his nine year stay at the Etihad Stadium. The 31-year-old captained the Blues on Wednesday night as they beat Galatasaray 2-0 in the Champions League.
The victory, coupled with PSG's draw against Newcastle United and Real Madrid's defeat to Benfica, meant City hung onto the final top-eight spot in the league phase and thus qualified automatically for the last 16 of the competition. After the game, Bernardo spoke to City's official media where he hinted his time at the club could be coming to an end.
He said: "I’m enjoying this season. I’m trying to give it all for the club that gave me this opportunity to be here for so long and to achieve what I achieved. Until the end I’m going to be here fighting for the club and for the fans."

The midfielder's contract expires at the end of this season and he is currently free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside England.
At the weekend, Pep Guardiola admitted the club had been in discussions with Bernardo about his future. He explained: "I would love for Man City, for myself as well for Bernardo to stay forever. But so we spoke a lot with Bernie and Bernie has to decide the best for him, his family.
"Whatever happens this season, next season, in 10 years, he will remain one of the greatest players that this club has had in its long history." If this is to be the midfielder's last season in Manchester, he will leave with a host of major honours to his name.
He has lifted the Champions League, won six Premier League titles and the FIFA Club World Cup. Bernardo also has four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups and three Community Shields.
City also have the chance to potentially add four more accolades to his name before the end of the season. The Blues are of course in the last 16 of the Champions League, just four points behind Arsenal in the Premier League title race, have a 2-0 lead over Newcastle United in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup heading into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium and will face League Two Salford City in the fourth round of the FA Cup next month.
