Victor Boniface appears to have expressed doubts about AC Milan’s decision not to sign him after the results of his medical.
Milan were on the verge of signing Boniface a couple of weeks ago on what would have been an initial loan with an option to buy. However, when he began his medical some concerns arose that meant the club wanted further opinion, and eventually the deal was called off.
However, the Nigerian did get his move in the end, joining Werder Bremen on a season-long dry loan. Obviously this begs the question: why was he deemed good enough to pass one medical, but not the one the Rossoneri did? Only those at the heart of the operation truly know what happened.
Boniface was officially unveiled as a new Werder Bremer player on Wednesday after his late move there, and he was asked about why he didn’t end up joining Milan. TMW relayed his comments.
Why Werder Bremen?
“I’ve always loved the Bundesliga and I wanted to stay in Germany, so it was easy to say yes.”
How is your fitness?
“If I wasn’t 100%, I’d be in the hospital and wouldn’t be able to speak here today.”
But what about the failed move to Milan?
“It wasn’t my fault; they decided not to pursue it. I have a strong mentality: it happens, it’s okay, I’ll move on.”
