Ariedo Braida has once again spoken about events at his former club AC Milan, including Massimiliano Allegri’s return and some unknowns in the squad.
Braida was at Milan for 27 years from 1986 to 2013, serving as CEO for the first part of that before moving on to being the sporting director. He was a crucial component in what became an iconic era under Silvio Berlusconi, with many trophies and world class players.
At present, Milan are quite a way away from being able to dream about winning European silverware again. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s return seems to have stabilised things, and now the hope is that a Scudetto run is possible, even if the squad is perhaps not as well equipped as rivals.
Braida gave an interview which was published in this morning’s edition of Tuttosport. In it, he spoke about the brilliance of Christian Pulisic, Allegri’s second stint so far, signings to be made and more, with MilanPress relaying his words.
Allegri’s return is going well so far…
“Max is a champion on the bench. He’s brought discipline back to the club and is a real asset to this AC Milan. Now the results are visible, everyone is pulling together and the group is united.
“The results are visible now, but then again, if Allegri has always won throughout his career, there must be a reason. He’s not interested in playing well or not so well, he’s interested in winning, which in the end is the only thing that matters.”

How do you see this season playing out?
“At the moment, the league has no masters. Inter and Napoli have stronger squads than Milan, but if it’s completed in January, I think the Rossoneri can have their say.”
Pulisic continues to be the main man…
“Pulisic is truly a fantastic player, but he’s rarely talked about. He’s not physically strong, but he makes the most of his skills. He’s undoubtedly a top player in Serie A.
“Who do I compare him to? It’s difficult, but sometimes he reminds me of Shevchenko, in his ability to determine the result with a single move and his composure in front of goal.”
And Rafael Leao?
“Leao is a great player, and thanks to Max, he can continue to grow. His game is ideal for today’s football: speed, dribbling, and power. They always pass the ball to him up front; he’s one of the few who goes straight forward to seek numerical superiority.”

Luka Modric continues to show his quality…
“Modric is a champion with a capital C. What he does is incredible and the sign of an extraordinary professional. Milan must enjoy him as much as possible. He’s 40 years old and looks like a 20-year-old.”
Maignan’s renewal is in the balance…
“Maignan is a champion, he seems to have a magnet with the way he manages to get to every ball. If you want to win, you have to keep champions – no ifs, ands, or buts, as Berlusconi told us.”
The next game is Milan-Sassuolo…
“I congratulate Carnevali on the work he’s done. I’ve known him for thirty years and I know this isn’t a surprise. Sassuolo are a splendid story in our football.”
