‘Break the piggy bank’ – Pellegatti urges Milan to sign ‘classic’ striker Mateta

AC Milan need a striker, a classic number nine, a goalscorer. The recent history of investments in this position has been poor, and now, a big move must be made.

When Massimiliano Allegri arrived at Milan, his first request was for a ‘top-tier’ striker. Instead, Christopher Nkunku arrived. Now, that is not a slight on the Frenchman, but he is not ‘top-tier’ nor is he really a striker.

Of course, the move could have some upside. So far, though, he is struggling, and Allegri does not consider him a starter. A potential waste of a significant fee, one which could have gone on a striker.

Pellegatti’s dream

So, with Santiago Gimenez potentially on his way out the door, the Rossoneri are back in the same position. They are desperate for a striker, and it may be time to bite the bullet and spend big on a proven option.

Last summer, Jean-Philippe Mateta rose as a maybe, and Carlo Pellegatti has urged the Diavolo to make the move, via PianetaMilan.

“There’s a tall player, 28 years old, French, his name is Mateta, he costs €25-30 million. A classic penalty area man who scored a lot at Crystal Palace. Pay attention to this suggestion of mine. We need to break the piggy bank. Mateta would be beautiful and ready for San Siro.”
