Thomas Tuchel left the door open when asked about the possibility of Max Dowman making this summer's World Cup squad for England.

The German head coach took part in a press conference on Friday morning after revealing his 35-man squad for the nation's warm-up matches against Uruguay and Japan later this month.

And while a number of Arsenal stars were included for the pair of games, which land on Friday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 31 respectively, including Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Declan Rice and Noni Madueke, Dowman's name was nowhere to be seen.

Pressed about why Dowman was not selected for the upcoming matches, Tuchel explained that while he put himself in the spotlight with his heroics against Everton earlier this month, that the teenage sensation is not a regular starter for the Gunners at present.

He said of the 16-year-old: "Well, he put himself in the spotlight no? With this amazing goal against Everton, and a crucial goal.
