Brocchi and Vieri in feisty derby exchange: “You watched the final from home”

The international break has come at an interesting time, and it may even have come at the best time for AC Milan and Inter.

In the past few months, the focus has been on the clubs working together, with the deal for San Siro waiting to be finalised. Last week, confirmation of the agreement was announced, and the clubs will move forward together.

Perhaps it would have been ideal if the Derby had been the game before the international break. However, it now gives a chance to get back into that derby mood, after the celebrations of the stadium have gone.

Brocchi and Vieri begin taunts

So, over the next fortnight, that atmosphere for the game can build. The absence of club football straight to the biggest game of the season. Given that Milan will also be strengthened by some returns, it arrives at a fantastic time for Massimiliano Allegri.

Not allowing much time to start the Derby taunts, Cristian Brocchi and Christian Vieri spoke about the 2002-03 Champions League semi-final on the Fuoriclasse programme, and MilanPress relays their words.

Brocchi: “My fondest memory is from the first Champions League Euroderby, to be honest. He went home.”

Vieri: “You were lucky, 0-0 and 1-1.”

Brocchi: “Lucky or not, he went home. Bobo has a slightly negative memory, but regardless, it was wonderful. The week before, the night before. That night, I don’t think I’d ever played a match with such a magical atmosphere.”

Vieri: “Did you play?”

Brocchi: “I played, absolutely. Both the first leg and the second leg. I reached the final, then I didn’t get in, but you watched the final from home.”
