Brocchi defends Gimenez as Milan struggles continue: “His performance was excellent”

Santiago Gimenez joined AC Milan in January, though he has spent more time in the bad books than the good ones.

There is a difficulty with Gimenez. As a player, he is exactly what Milan fans want. Someone who is completely dedicated to the Rossoneri and represents them on the pitch. A continued effort and hope to get his favourite team into a better place.

However, as a striker, he falls short. Ultimately, his numbers are below the value of the €30 million paid half a year ago. An unfortunate, but undeniable truth. Massimiliano Allegri continues to support him, but the criticism is growing around the Mexican.

Brocchi’s support

Through the summer, there were rumours that he could leave. Nothing ever prevailed, though, and he remains a Rossonero. Whilst the goals are lacking, these questions will continue, but former Milanisti Cristian Brocchi offered some words about the striker, and his words to Radio TV Serie A have been relayed by Pianeta Milan.

“I will continue to defend him because he has great qualities, he plays a defensive role, keeps the ball, and works for the team. It’s normal for him to be criticised if he doesn’t score after a few chances. I have much more difficulty when I have to talk about a striker who doesn’t create chances for himself, who makes mistakes in his movements.

“In a moment of mental calm, he would have shot on the first touch, but instead, he tries to beat the keeper and hits the post. He needs to get going, but his performance was excellent.”
