Bryan Mbeumo has drawn comparisons to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah following his latest strike for Manchester United.
The summer arrival from Brentford found the net in United's thrilling 2-2 stalemate with Tottenham on Saturday. Mbeumo notched his fifth goal in as many matches against Spurs and his sixth in 12 outings since his move to the Red Devils.
The Cameroon international has become Ruben Amorim's leading marksman so far this campaign and is receiving considerable acclaim from former Premier League figures due to his impressive performances. Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch and ex-England midfielder Owen Hargreaves are the latest ex-professionals to highlight that the United player offers far more than just goals.
Crouch believes his arrival represents a significant statement of intent from United.
"I've been impressed with him for a number of years now," he said on TNT Sport.
"At Brentford, he was a killer, he is a danger, he's sharp with his touches. Today he played right in front of us, and he's so sharp. When he gets a chance, invariably, he finishes, he's cold in front of goal, and he's been such a big addition to what Manchester United are trying to do."
Hargreaves, a former Manchester United midfielder, took the praise further by likening his approach to Liverpool's Salah.
The Egyptian has registered 188 goals in 298 Premier League appearances for the Reds.
Hargreaves believes the composure Mbeumo has demonstrated in handling the pressures of Old Trafford is noteworthy. "I think his biggest attribute is that he gives quality," he said.
"He reminds me a little bit of Mo Salah in and around the box. When he gets it, he has a clear picture of exactly what he wants. He almost shows no emotion, business in and around the box.
"You can play into his feet, he can dribble. Technically, I don't think he gets enough credit.
"People talk about his goal-scoring, rightly so, but he's an exceptional football player. People come to Manchester United, huge names, and struggle with pressure. He just sits there super calm, super chill, top scorer this season."
Mbeumo expressed satisfaction as his team maintained its unbeaten streak. United hasn't tasted defeat since its loss to Brentford in September.
"I think it brings confidence when we don't lose," Mbeumo said. "It's easier on the pitch, outside of the pitch, on the training ground, everybody is enjoying it a lot."
