Cafu heaps praise on Milan target Estupinan: “He’s a perfect fit”

Pervis Estupinan has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in the last few days and according to the club legend Cafu, the left-back would be a very good signing.

Igli Tare is looking for a new left-back to replace Theo Hernandez, who joined Al Hilal earlier this month, and negotiations are ongoing with Brighton regarding Estupinan. While there is a distance between demand and offer, the feeling is that a compromise can be reached.

At the age of 27, and with quite severe injury struggles, he would perhaps not be the replacement that most Milan fans expected. However, if the club legend Cafu is anyone to go by, then the Rossoneri should give him a chance.

Cafu’s stamp of approval

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport about the Ecuadorian, among other things, Cafu stated that Milan would get a very good player, at least when he’s in form.

What are your first impressions of Estupinan?

“I’ve seen him several times in World Cup qualifiers, and he’s very good. He’s a perfect fit for Milan.”

What impressed you most?

“His speed, his ability to push forward, and the fact that he’s not afraid to take personal initiative when the team needs it.”

Won’t Theo’s shadow be a burden for him?

“If someone plays well on the pitch, they don’t feel the legacy of those who came before them. And if Estupinan is what I saw with the national team…”

He did well in England with Brighton. Is he ready for Serie A?

“Your league is more tactical than the English one, but I’m convinced that with his physical ability, Estupinan can do well anywhere. It’s not easy to find stronger players at left back.”
