Camarda discusses Ibrahimovic admiration, ‘prodigy’ and starting point: “Try to isolate myself”

Francesco Camarda has been regularly deemed the next big thing in Italian football, but the AC Milan loanee is not thinking too far ahead.

With young, exciting players, there are often labels given to them very early. This brings pressure, and it is probably a big reason why Milan have opted to take a deal which could see Camarda leave the club next summer.

Of course, they have a buy-back clause inserted. However, living with the weight of being the young starlet of the Rossoneri is a heavy burden, and that is without considering he is a record holder for the youngest Serie A appearance.

Camarda’s honesty

For Camarda, though, he is not thinking about the future, instead just focusing on himself and where he is currently. After all, he is still only 17 and has now got his first Serie A goal, focusing on now is not a bad thing at all.

He spoke to TMW, via Football Italia, about his situation.

“I was ten, he was a world-class footballer, I respected him as I respect him now; he’s somebody to take inspiration from for my career.”

The first goal…

“You want moments like this when you start playing. The first goal, the debut.

“These are the targets you have as a kid. Let’s say that to have reached it gives me great satisfaction. It’s a starting point, and I’m more and more motivated to go as high as possible. I’m here with the national team, and that’s what I am focused on. I want to bring the three points to my teammates.”

Destiny?

“Honestly, I’ve never thought about it. I always live in the present, day by day. I try to improve for the club and the national team and do the best I can. It’s not up to me to say that I’m a prodigy. I try to isolate myself as much as possible from everything.”
