Cambiaso admires work of former coach Allegri at Milan: “A great defensive phase”

Andrea Cambiaso could have been playing for AC Milan this season. However, he was in Juventus colours for the weekend’s fixture.

There was a period where it seemed Cambiaso could head to Milan, with Theo Hernandez well on his way out the door. The Italian has previously worked under Massimiliano Allegri, and the coach was keen for some reunions.

A deal never really seemed serious, though. So, the full-back remained in Turin, whilst Pervis Estupinan arrived from Brighton.

Cambiaso’s praise

As someone who played often for Allegri, Cambiaso will have known what to expect from his former coach this weekend. Though the Allegrian style of play is certainly not a hidden secret across Europe, let alone in Italy.

Nevertheless, the Bianconeri could not find a way through, and the Rossoneri probably should have taken all three points back to Milano, but it was not to be. Speaking after the game, the defender was complimentary of his former coach’s team, and his words to DAZN were relayed by MilanNews.

What kind of game was it offensively?

“I didn’t expect a different start. I know the coach, and I expected such a tight game. We could definitely have done more offensively; I tried. Milan have been in a great defensive phase since the start of the season. We could have created more superiority on the wings, but we didn’t manage it.”
