Davide Bartesaghi has been one of the exclamation marks for AC Milan this season, and after last night’s win against Lazio, even Fabio Capello had praise for the youngster.
After starting on the bench in the first five league games, Bartesaghi has now played seven of the last eight games from start. In short, he has cemented his place in the left-back position, with Pervis Estupinan being relegated to deputy as things stand.
In the 1-0 win against Lazio on Saturday evening, the 19-year-old put in yet another good performance, showcasing a maturity that is rare for a player of his age. This is something that the legendary manager Fabio Capello highlighted in his editorial this morning too.
“One player who has earned Allegri’s trust thanks to solid performances is Bartesaghi, who is now a regular on the left flank. He’s not Theo, okay, but he’s a homegrown asset who’s becoming increasingly valuable.

“He’s physically strong, courageous, and communicates confidently with his teammates,” Capello wrote in his editorial.
It’s possible that Bartesaghi could get some rest in Thursday’s Coppa Italia game against Lazio, giving Estupinan a chance to prove himself after a rocky first few months at the club. On the flip side, Max Allegri will surely be keen to field the best team possible to advance to the quarter-finals.
